Professor William P. Anthony,Ph.D. is the DeSantis Professor of Business Administration and Professor of Management Emeritus at Florida State University's College of Business. He has over thirty-five years of experience in human resource strategy consulting and as a litigation consultant and expert witness.

Dr. Anthony founded and directed both the Center for Human Resources Management and the Carl DeSantis Center for Executive Management Education and is a winner of the 1991 President's Continuing Education Award at Florida State University. He conducts seminars and consults throughout the United States on a variety of management topics for managers in business, government and not-for-profit organizations. He speaks and consults on Strategic Planning and Management, Strategic Human Resource Management, Strategic Decision Making, Managing Diversity, Policy Development and Implementation and other human resource and management topics.

His primary focus on litigation consulting and expert witness work revolves around the development, implementation, and critiquing of policy in various areas of human resource management including sexual harassment, discrimination, negligent hiring and supervision, ADA, FMLA, wrongful discharge, and related areas. He works with both plaintiffs and defendants and has testified in both federal and state courts.

Dr. Anthony has published fourteen and books and revisions. His recently published book with Pam Perrewe and Micki Kacmar titled Strategic Human Resource Management, 5th. Ed., is widely used at colleges and universities throughout the U.S. and Canada. His Participative Management has been reprinted twelve times and is in four languages. His Organization Theory: A Strategic Approach is in its sixth edition. He has also published over 90 articles and papers in a variety of journals including the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Journal, Human Relations, The Academy of Management Executive, Organizational Dynamics, and Long Range Planning. His articles have dealt with top management decision making, managing human resources, envisionary management, managing stress, strategic planning, tacit knowledge in decision making, politics, and a variety of other management and human resource management topics.

Dr. Anthony received his Ph.D. in Management and MBA from Ohio State University and his BBA in Business from Ohio University. Prior to his current position, Dr. Anthony served as Chairman of the Management Department for three terms for a total of twelve years, and was an Assistant Dean with the College of Business at Florida State University. He also founded and directed the Center for Human Resource Management in the college. He is an active member in both the Southern Management Association and the Academy of Management as a paper reviewer and session chair at national meetings, where he also regularly presents. Other professional associations include Society of Human Resource Management and Beta Gamma Sigma.

In more than thirty years of consulting with a wide variety of companies and not-for-profit organizations, Dr. Anthony has also had many opportunities to work in — and defuse – high-conflict situations within organizations, including litigation issues.
