Scope & Range of Services
I am a seasoned executive with an extensive background in a variety
of situations, including operating management, financial management, business
valuations, financially distressed enterprises, business fraud, damage
calculations, and process improvements.
My career began in public accounting with Arthur Andersen & Co.
I later joined Heizer Corporation, a prominent venture capital organization.
Industry then beckoned me to join its ranks in various corporate management
roles for a number of years with a break for self-employment along the
way. Finally, the world of consulting lured me with an opportunity to exercise
my creative analytical skills and industry knowledge in the arenas of business
coaching and litigation services where business and financial acumen are
needed to resolve matters efficiently and effectively.
Bradley University in Peoria, IL provided me a Bachelor of Science Degree
in accounting and Northeastern University in Boston, MA granted me a Master
in Business Administration Degree in 1989. I am a member of the Illinois
Society of CPAs and of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA).
Business Coaching:
Understanding where you want to go ... what you need to know and do to
get there ... I help
owner-operated businesses focus on setting goals, developing plans
to achieve the goals, and harmonizing the essential business functions
... marketing, operations, finance and management.
I work with those owners and businesses who see the value in having
a partner to prompt them on staying focused ... to "work on the business,
not in it" ... on outcomes, not efforts.
Financial Management:
Sometimes, I fill a skill gap ... when a company's finance function needs
interim management or process improvement. Other times, I help clients
reverse a decline in profits ... or improve cash flow ... or write an effective
business plan or financing plan ... or perform due diligence for an acquisition
or business expansion.
And I even train non-financial professionals in how to understand and
use accounting data, including the management of current and future working
capital.
Litigation Support:
I know the right questions to ask ... the way to push a discovery process
forward ... the relevance of bits and pieces of data ... and the importance
of identifying issues.
For my clients ... law firms, accounting firms, insurance companies,
and business enterprises ... I analyze documents, evaluate testimony, construct
damage models, and provide testimony ... each time helping them achieve
a more complete perspective and a more satisfying resolution.
Forensic "Investigative" Accounting:
Proficiency in oral and written communication ... the ability to listen
carefully and understand complicated fact patterns ... patience and a good
memory for detail ... These are the benefits I bring to clients through
rational cause-and-effect analyses, not just of financial data, but also
of operating and economic information.
I help clients ... companies' management and their advisors ... decide
whether concern is justified ... whether to proceed with further investigation
... and whether the benefit of doing so will be worth the cost. |
