OBJECTIVE:
Provide professional, competent advisory and consulting services to the insurance and reinsurance industry, particularly in the areas of arbitration and mediation as respects disputes over reinsurance placements as well as expert witnessing or background consulting on disputes for insurance or reinsurance placements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Over Forty two years combined reinsurance and insurance experience make for a unique historical perspective. Initially involved in underwriting complex major casualty programs and developing special forms and coverages (e.g. some of the first umbrella policies). Then segued into nearly thirty years as reinsurance broker with several of the nation's largest and well known reinsurance intermediaries. Placed a broad spectrum of treaty and facultative reinsurance ranging from those for "Main Street Carriers" to specialized or esoteric accounts involving Kidnap & Ransom, Patent Infringement, Professional Liability, Auto Racing, Trucking, Employment Practices Liability and other specialty placements. Have provided expert opinions, reports for disputes in various state and Federal courts as well as an arbitration in London. Certified ARIAS arbitrator.

Served in several functions for parent company with heavy emphasis on soliciting new client carriers for a unique Turnkey Employment Practices Liability Reinsurance Program. We were able to put insurance carriers into the EPLI business by offering policy forms, rates, training of underwriting, marketing and claims staff, coupled to treaty and facultative reinsurance coverage. I played an important role in dealing with several large intermediary firms and their prospects and clients as well as maintaining and solidifying our relations with reinsurers. Also required working with claim departments and law firms on EPLI claims.

As a senior broker, produced and serviced major treaty clients. This required drawing out ceding companies requirements and helping develop best possible terms and conditions from reinsurers. A thorough knowledge of the world reinsurance marketplace was an absolute necessity, especially on major Property Catastrophe treaties. Our client base included major players in the Excess & Surplus lines area as well as Medical Malpractice.

In Detroit served as senior underwriter designated as line specialist for commercial casualty lines on a wide range of primary and excess insurance accounts. This was one of INA's largest and most profitable branch operations
Began underwriting career in INA Home Office Special Accounts Department that handled all major Primary and Excess Casualty programs (also all Professional Liability lines). Worked in developing manuscript policies and coverage for many Fortune 1000 companies. Required placing casualty facultative on many policies, thus learning differences between so called "Direct" reinsurers and those accessed via brokers. Also graduated from INA's four month fulltime casualty underwriting training school, regarded as the best in the insurance industry.
