Brief biography of Richard B. Lewan, MD
After receiving my medical degree at the University Of Chicago,
Pritzker School of Medicine and completing residency training
in family practice at the University of Illinois in Rockford,
I entered faculty practice with Medical College of Wisconsin
that included a busy clinical practice for my own patients.
As a faculty member, I served as the family practice residency
director at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, Waukesha, Wisconsin
for over 18 years. My primary responsibility was the development
of a training environment for residents and medical students
to teach the standards of care in family practice and primary
care.
Educational topics often presented and expertise include
yet are not limited to:
medical malpractice risk management, standards of clinical
care, clinical problem solving, common diagnostic errors,
optimizing the clinical examination, common clinical problems
in family practice, disorders of the newborn and infant,
clinical problems encountered in obstetrical care, cancer
screening and diagnosis in primary care, informed consent,
procedural skills in family practice and avoiding their complications,
geriatrics, nursing home care, critical care, etc.
I have provided expert opinion for 20 years relating to
the standards of care in family practice and primary care
in both plaintiff and defense cases. I have provided approximately
7 depositions and 4 court testimonies to date. With outstanding
teaching and presentation skills, I can provide compelling
arguments that jury members can easily understand. I am available
for reviews of medical malpractice, product liability, and
disability cases. During my current transition into a new
clinical and faculty role, I can provide fast turnover of
reviews and usually same day initial consultation to determine
case merit simply by contacting me by email at 'rl71053@hotmail.com'
