I have an question about working with other ps in my area.
i have made an few calls, introducing myself and telling about my experience
as an process server of several years.
i'd like to be able to work with them maybe in the future.
after the conversation they seemed some what standoffish as if i was looking
to take work away from them. thats not my intention, has anyone been through this, any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Paul,

About 4 years ago, I ran into this problem. Since then I have served papers for some of the larger companies.....and eventually went out on my own to do this. Nowadays, sometimes I work by myself or with an associate. I believe that there is more than enough business around for everyone and that it is good to work with other process servers. As a matter of fact, I hooked up with my associate because I had served one woman so many papers that she was looking over her shoulder for me every time she came into town... she didn't know who to look out for. we split the fee..and my client was a very happy person when he needed to get his ex wife served. I still get referrals from him.

BTW, some of the people that seemed to snub me in the beginning, gave it up. I'm still in for the long haul and plan to be here awhile.

Paul, it might help if you told us where you were located and how to reach you if you are needed.

Paul, I often run into the same situation, and I have been in the business over 18 years. Not a easy business to work in. But Susan did make a good point. I think it's nice that we have this forum and with any luck some of those servers failing to understand that we are all in this together, will maybe come around.
