I have a potential client who says someone is reading her email and has sent a threatening email to her. I instructed her to do the following:
1. Contact her provider to assist in tracking the route the message took - no help provided 2. Contact the police 3. Change servers to see if the individual can track her. She thinks it is coming from a former boyfriend who is a teacher in a different school district that has access to the computer lab. I don't know at this time if the school requires staff to sign-in when they use a computer, if it is coming from the school. She wants to track the message back to a specific computer. How to do this or any recommendations would be helpful. I am located in SE Virginia. Jeff

Here is my suggestion:
Arul's IP Address Tracking Program helps if: 1. You get abusive mails from somebody and want to know where it has come from! 2. Someone mails you claiming to be from one place and you suspect that he or she is from another place 3. You just want to track an email you received 4. You want to trace an IP address or do an IP address lookup out of curiosity Alternatively, With HotWhois, you can get IP Lookup information about IP addresses and domain names by sending queries to IP whois and domain whois servers. This IP tracking tool can reveal lots of valuable information, such as country, state, city, address, contact phone numbers and e-mail addresses of an IP provider.
