Copernicus & the Troglodyte Revisited. aka Bush on Stem Cells.

Perhaps there will be babblers who, although completely ignorant of mathematics, nevertheless take it upon themselves to pass judgement on mathematical questions and, badly distorting some passages of Scripture to their purpose, will dare find fault with my undertaking and censure it. I disregard them even to the extent as despising their criticism as unfounded. - De revolutionibus orbium coelestium

There is without a doubt a need for mankind to repeat the mistakes of the past. So in the spirit of the moment, we recommend that the Library of Congress be burnt to the ground. After all, without knowledge and information, the temptation of man to cross sacred boundaries will be more manageable. And if he dies sooner, so will his impulses.

On Funding Stem-cell Research - consider the military personnel that are at war as comparable to embryos (multi-cellular diploid eukaryotes). Some must sacrifice their lives so that others may live. Stem-cell research may create the omnipotent possibility to revolutionize medicine, furnishing doctors with the ability to repair certain tissues or to grow organs. It should be funded like the war is funded.
