..but won't allow us to
walk quietly.
Iraq, Iran (Hezbollah), and North Korea are security threats that won't soon go away. If they have their way they will
go nuclear, and worse, develop long range delivery systems (missiles, most likely) to project said weapons of mass destruction. They may also be developing biological agents which present a similar peril to the civilized world.
We will need a
missile defense, and we are rapidly developing the engineering proficiency to accomplish the same. We will also be able to reliably detect nuclear devices and biological and chemical agents before they arrive on our shores by subterfuge or the like. Unfortunately, accomplishing all of the above reliably will take another decade or more to perfect.
Thus the need to not walk so quietly. America must involve itself in the world, engage the enemy, and degrade the enemies arsenal and ability to build that arsenal. We must beat back those renegade nations, and nongovernmental organizations who would produce and use these WMD's.
Thus we must use force, project our power, and delay the threat, at least until we have an
adequate shield, and until prosperity and democracy have eroded the ability of these rogues and dictators to utilize these weapons..
