Borrowed: Are you missing calls?

I just saw the newest post on the Expert Witness Marketing Blog, by Expert Communications. The author Meredith Hamilton writes,

"Don't make it hard for potential clients to reach you; they won't waste time trying repeatedly. They will simply move on to the next name on their list.... Check out your phone system occasionally...." - FULL POSTING

This resonates because we have a few advertisers on Rominger Legal who constantly have full email boxes, or a voicemail that says ONLY, "leave a message. BEEP" (add computer voice here). And surprisingly (insert sarcasm here) these are the same folks who say they don't know if their advertising works or not.

If you can't afford a live receptionist, try gotvmail.com. If you can't afford them, pack it in, and look for a job tearing tickets at the carnival (can you tell we're annoyed by this behavior).

As a small business consultant, this is one of the top conversations I have with my clients. I absolutely HATE getting voice mail or simply ringing phones when I'm trying to conduct business with someone. The phone rings 5 or 6 times and I'm off to the next company on my list. I personally use RingCentral.com and find the service to be wonderful. It follows me to my home phone, my cell phone, my fiance's phone. Wherever I want it. And when I DON'T want it, it takes them to voice mail. Gives me a fax service as well. AND it's only $15 a month.

I know that by having something like this in my business arsenal there have been many times when I have NOT lost business that I would have without it.
